St Anne's School Choir
Hello from Mrs Roberts and Mrs Barnes!
We would like to tell you something about a group which is very dear to us - St Anne's School Choir.
The Beginning:
Our choir began in 2004 with just a handful of children and has steadily grown to a membership of almost forty children.
Where can you find us?
We rehearse every Friday from 3.30pm until 4:30pm, in the school hall. Mrs Barnes is our accompaniest and Mrs Roberts our musical director. We are also fortunate to have the frequest assistance of a former pupil, Gemma Robertson, who is now a local music/singing teacher.
Who are we?
Membership of our choir is open to boys and girls from Year 1 upwards, and at present we have children from all Year groups. There is no audition; we do ask for a love of singing, enthusiasm and regular attendance!
What do we do?
Our repertoire covers a wide and varied range of music - popular, folk, musical theatre, sacred - we do it all!
We perform publicly at least twice a year in school, with Christmas and Summer concerts. We also accept invitations to support local community events. In the past, the children have performed their Christmas programme at Rookery Hall, in local shops, Nantwich Health Centre, St Catherine's Nursing Home and at St Anne's Church. We have performed Summer programmes in both St Anne's and St Mary's Churches in Nantwich.
In July of 2008, the highlight of our year was a full scale production of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'.
A Vision for the Future
Our aim is to nurture and develop a love of music and a talent for singing. We are also dedicated to providing a forum for children to share this talent through group and full choir performance. We encourage children to extend their love of singing beyond school by joining other choirs and musical groups in the community. It is our hope that any child who wants to, should be given the opportunity to sing.
